For a sample of 26 extended classical double radio sources in which the presence of a central radio core at 5 GHz has been established, the angle at which the axis of each source is inclined to the line of sight is estimated. Discrepancies have been found in the observed dispersion of the flux ratio of core to lobes at 5 GHz among type A sources. It is found that estimating source inclination by using the ratio of observed separations of the two heads from the central core, as well as the underlying assumption of intrinsic beaming source symmetry are incompatible with the relativistic beaming models since there is no evidence in the sample for a higher apparent brightness of the central radio core in those double source for which the estimated inclination angle is small.
