Line blanketed model atmospheres were fitted to the absolute UV photometry and visual scans of alpha square CVn at phases 0.0 and 0.5 of the rotation period, using the chemical compositions appropriate for the corresponding phases. The results show that iron is the dominant element influencing the energy distribution of the emergent flux. The fit of models to observations suggests alpha square CVn to be hotter in phase 0.5 by about 500 K.
