Observations (predominantly visual) of asteroid 7 Iris made during the period 1974 to 1998 have been analysed. Values for the photometric parameters have been derived as follows: H 5.934 ( 0.081, G 0.282 ( 0.095. Using a value for the diameter of 203km an albedo of 0.186 was calculated from the observations. From photoelectric measurements a period of 7.137 ( 0.005 hours is derived. An outline of a method of light curve synthesis using a rotating 'spotty' ellipsoid is given.
