We describe the delay system for the six antennas which make up the Australia Telescope Compact Array. The digital data from the antennas arriving at the central site first pass through the delay system. The amount by which each data stream is delayed differs from antenna to antenna, and changes over the course of an observation. The delay system performs this function and converts the data into a format suitable for subsequent processing.
