Recent measurements by Hipparcos provide strong observational evidence
supporting the existence of white dwarf stars with iron-rich core
composition. Here we examine the evolution of iron-rich white dwarfs,
for which the cooling is substancially accelerated as compared with the
standard carbon-oxigen white dwarfs.
