Neutron Stars: Quark Matter, Neutron Stars: Stellar Rotation
Scientific paper
The authors study the influence of the strong interactions between quarks on observational effects of strange stars. They draw three conclusions. (1) The process of the conversion of a neutron star to a strange star is a "giant glitch" which depends on the strong interactions. (2) The strong interactions result in the effective damping of strange star pulsations. This is very favourable to supernova explosions. (3) The strong interactions increase the difference between neutron stars and strange stars for their rotations. The minimum period of strange stars is less than that of neutron stars.
