We present a simple analytical model describing the equilibrium of a stellar filament in the equatorial plane of a rapidly rotating late-type star. We model it as a massive circular current wire under the action of gravity, centrifugal and magnetic forces. On applying the condition of flux freezing the filament is found to be stable until it reaches large distances from the star or the magnetic field becomes too weak.
