We present a theoretical treatment for the statistical properties of the angular distribution of extragalactic infrared sources, providing, in particular, detailed modeling for 60-micron IRAS sources at 0.6-20 Jy. We improve the existing modeling of the rms fluctuation in the source number density over the sky as a function of angular scale, and investigate the statistical distribution of the number of peaks (local maxima) in the smoothed source density versus beamwidth and peak height. We show that the study of these quantities makes two independent tests available for use on the IRAS Point Source Catalog and may provide a simultaneous determination of the cosmological density parameter, the inhomogeneity length scale associated with the IRAS anisotropies, and the product bV (the biasing factor of infrared sources times the local velocity).
