The sun is compared with stars of the same spectral classification and position on the HR diagram. Some stars that are spectrally almost identical to the sun are discussed, and luminosity and effective temperature are used as parameters in a discussion of the theoretical possibilities of finding identical twins to the sun. The possibility of replacing the spectral classification system with a measureable criterion is discussed. For stars very similar to the sun, differences in the spectral energy distribution, as well as the mean correlation between the effective temperature and the color index, are depicted
