It is suggested here that the laminar character of the large-scale deep
convective flows appearing in numerical simulations of the convective
envelope of the Sun arises from the effect of turbulent eddy viscosity.
Previously, M. Schwarzschild suggested the same idea to explain the
observed surface granulation in the Sun.
