Attention is drawn to the fact that, in virtue of the properties of curvature radiation, there is an intrinsic lower limit to the gamma-ray frequency which a pulsar can emit if the power level is comparable to the rotational energy loss. It is further noted that, independently of radiative efficiency, a short duty cycle cannot be obtained at low gamma-ray frequencies without simultaneously producing certain observable spectral features. It is expected on the basis of the present considerations that low energy gamma-ray experiments on suitable candidates will yield highly consequential data on the pulsar mechanism.
