X-ray, optical, and radio observations of Sco X-1 are reviewed and analyzed. The radiation spectrum produced by an optically thick hot plasma is investigated, and the X-ray spectrum of Sco X-1 is examined in detail. Attention is given to the X-ray spectrum over the energy range from 2 to 40 keV, very soft X-rays, hard X-rays, X-ray flares from Sco X-1, and attempts to detect X-ray line emission from this source. Optical observations of Sco X-1 are summarized, concentrating on the source's photometric properties, line emission, binary nature, periodicities, color-magnitude relation, short-term quasi-periodic light variations, and polarization. Radio observations are discussed which indicate a nonthermal (i.e., synchrotron) emission mechanism. The relationship among the X-ray, optical, and radio fluxes from Sco X-1 is assessed, and restrictions are placed on the theoretical model of the source. The latter relate to the distance of Sco X-1, the geometrical configuration of the binary system, properties of the hot plasma derived from IR and X-ray observations, and the accretion flow.
