An analysis is made of vertical profiles of velocity components and of the diurnal and seasonal behavior of the distributed nongeostrophic large-scale eddy in the E and F regions. It is shown that below 270 km the role of the ionospheric plasma mainly consists in a twisting effect, with velocities reaching a maximum at 200 km. Above 270 km the role of inductive deceleration increases sharply, leading to a significant decrease of wind velocity with height.
