It is shown that levels of geomagnetic and ionospheric disturbance in the spring and autumn months depend on the interplanetary-magnetic-field (IMF) sector sign. The IMF component in the solar-magnetospheric system of coordinates is obtained as the result of the annual precession of the geomagnetic axis in the large-scale IMF sector structure. Attention is given to the degree to which differences of magnetic ionospheric activity in sectors of opposite sign are determined by different distributions of geoeffective parameters of the interplanetary medium.
