Questions about the experimental methods and results of the KONUS experiment are posed. It is found that several problems in the gamma-burst catalog Mazets et al., 1981) were not fully addressed by the recent response of Mazets and Golenetskii (1982) to the analysis of Laros et al. (1982). Calibration, correction for selective spatial coverage, and comparison with the Pioneer Venus Orbiter catalog are discussed. Further clarification from scientists familiar with the details of the KONUS experiment is considered necessary if the valuable data contained in the catalog are to be fully exploited.
