The class of peculiar stars called λ Boo stars consists of a
small number of metal weak-lined A-F stars. The authors suggest a
spectroscopic definition of this group and study the properties of the
nine stars so defined in the Geneva and uvby β photometric systems.
Their metal deficiency appears clearly in both systems.
