Spectra of Mg II h and k were obtained for V471 Tau at phases zero (K dwarf in front) and 0.5 (white dwarf in front). At phase zero, strong blueshifted absorption is present, suggestive of a wind from the K dwarf with terminal velocity 600 to 400 km/sec and mass loss rate at least 3 orders of magnitude greater than solar. Discrete blue-shifted absorption features occur at velocities of 200 and 500 km/sec. At phase 0.5, the blueshifted absorption is much weaker, although still detectable.
