Scientific paper
The authors report the results of a study of the evolution of the galaxy correlation function using a sample of distant early type galaxies (z ≡ 0.4), selected by color criteria from Schmidt plates. The goal of this work is to distinguish between different theories for the growth of large-scale structure with cosmic time. The authors compare their measurement of the correlation function ξ(r) at z ≡ 0.4 with the value found locally, estimated from an analysis of the Perseus-Pisces and the CfA redshift surveys.
