In 1993 we started a survey in the K' band with the final aim of counting galaxies down to K'~19 over ~200 arcmin^2 and down to K'~20 over a region of ~30 arcmin^2. In this work we present the preliminary results of the analysis of the deeper area. The counts are performed on 10 fields (~3 arcmin^2 each) near the South Galactic Pole. Extensive Monte Carlo simulations were used to derive the completeness corrections. The counts follow the relation log(n)-m with a slope of ~0.33 in the range 16
