The association between Type Ic supernovae (SNe) and gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) has increased the interest in this class of SNe and led to great efforts to understand them theoretically and study them across the electromagnetic spectrum. Before the launch of Chandra and XMM-Newton, only two Type Ic SNe had been observed in the X-rays: 1994I by ROSAT and 1998bw by BeppoSAX. This number has more than tripled, and I will report on the X-ray properties of the Chandra-observed Type Ic SNe 2001em, 2003L, 2003bg, and 2004C. With these and the XMM-Newton-observed 2002ap, there is now an ensemble of Type Ic SNe observed in the X-rays. I will discuss the similarities and differences of the X-ray properties among this class, as well as compare them to other well-studied X-ray SNe.
