A statistical method for determining the membership of a galaxy cluster is presented. The method is based on the maximum likely principle and assumes that the radial velocity of a cluster galaxy follows a one-dimensional normal distribution. The method is applied to the Coma cluster, showing that the model may be used to determine the distributional parameters of the cluster and the membership probability of individual galaxies.
