We present analysis of the X-ray emission from two samples of UV-selected star forming galaxies -- z=1 Balmer break galaxies and z=3 Lyman break galaxies -- in the 2 Ms Chandra Deep Field North. 10% of the sample are directly detected, with half being identified as AGN-dominated sources and half identified as X-ray bright starbursts, and stacking the flux of the remaining undetected galaxies produces highly significant detections. Many of the detected AGN are 'hidden' in the UV and appear to be heavily absorbed. Starburst galaxies are detected out to z=3. For both samples we find clear correlations between X-ray and UV flux, as well as some evidence for correlations with redness in the UV. Implications for UV extinction corrections, star formation rates, the dust content and dust distribution of high redshift star forming galaxies will be discussed.
