We wish to report the discovery of a double optical jet associated with the radio galaxy 4C 30.31 (B2 1658+30A). This was accomplished by analyzing an HST image in the R filter, and performing a model galaxy subtraction. The resulting optical jet is co-linear in position and matching in scale with the radio jets that had already been observed with the VLA.
On one side of the galaxy we show a morphologically similar jet coincident with the radio, and on the other side we show an optical knot coincident with the radio hotspot in that jet. Fluxes in radio and optical have been determined, as well as the spectral index. Further morphological and spectroscopic analyses, especially as regards to emission mechanism, are presented as well.
