In the solar corona, the electron-ion collision frequency is much lower than the electron cyclotron frequency. Thus, the Pederson (perpendicular) conductivity and the Hall conductivity are much smaller than the parallel electric conductivity. This situation can be considered in magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) by including a so-called Hall term in Ohm's law. Although the contribution of this term to the electric field is still small compared to the convection electric field, it effects an interesting deviation from the ideal MHD. A numerical simulation is performed to investigate the coronal magnetic field evolution with a Hall term in Ohm's law. The inclusion of a Hall term breaks certain geometrical symmetries that are allowed in ideal MHD or isotropic resistive MHD. Comparison of the two evolutions will be reported and possible observational effects will be discussed.
