We propose to observe for 40 ks in AO3 the bright Seyfert 1 galaxy MCG~+8-11-11, probably the brightest Seyfert 1s not yet observed by XMM--Newton. The main goal of the proposal is to study in detail the properties of the iron line(s) in this source, properties that previous missions left largely undetermined. XMM--Newton observations of Seyfert 1s indicate that the iron line properties are often complex and may be different from source to source: the proposed observation will add one more case to the handful of Seyfert 1s adequately studied.
