We propose to observe the highly X-ray luminous z3.395 radio galaxy B2 0902+343, detected by us with Chandra. The unresolved X-ray source is centred on the active nucleus and has a spectrum which is well fit by a flat power-law of photon index Gamma~1.1 with intrinsic absorption of 8e22cm2, and an intrinsic 2-10 keV luminosity of 3e45erg/s. More complex models which allow for a steeper spectral index cause the column density and intrinsic luminosity to increase. We expect to detect a significant iron line produced in the source by fluorescence. Soft X-ray XMM data will also constrain the luminosity of any thermal emission from the hot magnetized medium responsible for the high Faraday rotation measure.
