The study of X-ray sources in large external galaxies has been vigorously pursued in recent years, allowing a global analysis of their populations along the Hubble sequence. We aim to extend this analysis to dwarf spheroidal galaxies. The aim of this proposal is to characterise the X-ray population of the Sagittarius and Carina dwarf galaxies. The Carina dwarf has a more complex and recent star formation history compared to Sagittarius. The aims of our project is to improve our understanding of the episodal star formation history of these systems which will serve as a comparison with large, normal galaxies.
