The dwarf spheroidal galaxies may hold important clues about the formation mechanism for galaxies. It is of crucial importance to understand the ages of the dwarf spheroidals and how they compare with other galaxies in the Local Group. Dwarf spheroidals are also particularly intriguing because of the large amount of dark matter that they are inferred to contain from their velocity dispersions. In this program we will obtain a moderately deep color-magnitude diagram of the Draco dwarf spheroidal. The color-magnitude diagram will allow us to infer the star formation history of this galaxy. The deep luminosity function, which we will determine by adding together observations in both filters, may allow us to determine whether the initial mass function is weighted towards low mass stars in this dwarf spheroidal, which would have implications for the inferred amount of dark matter in this galaxy.
