The large scale velocity field is a key indicator of the cosmic density and of the power spectrum of the density field. I discuss recent efforts to measure peculiar motions on scales of ~100h-1 Mpc with particular focus on the Abell cluster survey of Lauer and Postman. The Lauer-Postman data are compared with a variety of cosmological models and are consistent with the detection of a bulk flow of unprecedented amplitude. Several new peculiar velocity surveys are underway which will begin to probe scales comparable with the Abell cluster survey. The combined datasets should reveal important insight into the large scale distribution of matter, both light and dark.
