A historical overview of SETI is presented beginning from the days of antiquity to the advanced research being conducted today. Attention is given to the SETI Microwave Observing Program, which will be distinguished by an ability to detect a variety of signal forms, with the search for the variety of signal forms being aided by computer analysis.
