Accretion Disks: Stability

Scientific paper

The stability of an isothermal thin disk with radial viscous force is analyzed. The derived dispersion relation indicates that the radial viscous force tends to stabilize the disk. This may be explained by its dissipation effect on the energy of the wave propagation. It is also found that the introduction of a radial viscous force will not give rise to any new mode.
