Open Clusters: Initial Mass Function, Open Clusters: Membership

A more reasonable method of membership determination for open clusters is applied to the typical old Galactic cluster M67. The conclusion is that both space and velocity mass segregation have taken place in M67. Since the selected region is smaller than the whole cluster, a correction for data incompleteness has been made in studying PDLF and PDMF. A general theoretical method of correcting the dynamical evolutionary effect in the IMF of open clusters is alos presented and is used to derive the slope of the IMF of M67 which is -1.67±0.09 for the mass range of 0.7 Msun < M < 1.3 Msun.
