The astronomical research satellite Astro-SPAS, which is to study
stellar evolution after being placed in orbit in February 1993 using the
Space Shuttle, is discussed. The Astro-SPAS configuration is shown and
its equipment is described. The research missions of Astro-SPAS are
examined.
