KLA01 have presented a scheme for altering planetary orbits in the solar system, in particular that of the Earth as a means to escape (for a period) the consequences of the secular brightening of the Sun over the next few billion years. In this paper I discuss that work, present background information, and attempt to understand consequences of the ideas involved.
