The far-infrared properties of the parent galaxies of supernovae are studied using the multivariate factor analysis of two samples of IRAS detected spiral galaxies: the parent galaxies of SNe and the RSA galaxies without recorded SN. The FIR parameters are found to be independent of the SNe with massive progenitors, the morphological type and the presence of the bar, as well as the blue luminosity of the galaxies. These results suggest that different ranges of mass dominate the optical and the FIR bands. The SN II is considered to be associated with the cooler component of the FIR radiation of galaxies and the masses of their projectors are restricted between 5 and 10 solar masses.
