Climatic cyclicity is recorded by regular variations in the thickness of varves in the Elatina Formation, a late Precambrian periglacial lake deposit in South Australia. Earlier conclusions that the climatic cycles reflect solar variability are strongly supported by a complexity of periods revealed through study of drill cores of the varved sequence. The new data promise to contribute significantly to understanding of solar processes.
