We propose to continue and complete a survey of the brightest molecular region in the southwest of the Small Magellanic Cloud, to map and measure molecular regions traced by 12CO(1-0) transition. These data will comprise the first complete survey of a molecular region in the irregular dwarf galaxy, the SMC. This system is one of the most metal poor objects in the local universe, and has been regarded as a template for early-epoch systems, found at kpc distances. The survey proposed here is an important part of an ongoing project to conduct multi-wavelength and high-resolution studies of the molecular regions in the LMC and SMC. For the first time, we will have a complete measure of the molecular cloud-mass function of a star formation environment in the unique SMC, its relationship with the observed stellar population, and a comparison with similar molecular regions in the LMC and Galaxy.
