The motion of geomagnetic flux tubes near the magnetopause from the frontal point in the direction of the magnetotail is analyzed. It is assumed that the magnetopause is a tangential discontinuity and that currents are present only on the boundary, i.e., that they are absent inside the magnetosphere. These conditions (described by the Chapman-Ferraro model) are connected with an increase in flow velocity away from the frontal point and with the generation of an electric-field component normal to the magnetopause.
