We present preliminary results from our SMA CO Nearby Extragalactic Survey (SCONES) which will determine the warm gas properties of a sample of nearby galaxies at high angular resolution. Thus far we have mapped seven galaxies in 12CO J=2-1, 13CO J=2-1, C18O J=2-1 and 12CO J=3-2. Using these SMA data combined with archival data we will answer the following questions: 1) Do the temperature and density of molecular gas correlate with the CO morphology? 2) Do the morphologies and dynamics of the warm gas match those of the cool gas? 3) How does the CO-to-H2 conversion factor vary with galaxy type?
