Conversion of neutron stars with different equations of state to strange stars with different equations of state is studied in this paper. For a hot neutron star, the conversion could lead to large changes in the period of the pulsar. The magnitude of the change is largely determined by the equation of state of neutron matter and the duration of the change is strongly dependent on the equation of state of strange matter. For a cold neutron star, the conversion could result in a γ-ray burst.
