Natural Satellites, Astrometric Reductions

Scientific paper

Photographic positions of the Neptunian satellites Triton (53 positions) and Nereid (8 positions) obtained at the Cassegrain focus of a 1.6m reflector are given for the oppositions of 1982 through 1988. All positions were reduced using astrometric methods and compared with those calculated analytically from Harris (1984) for Triton and from a numerical integration for Nereid. The observed minus calculated residuals referred to Neptune have standard deviations of the order of 0.05" for Triton and 0.25" for Nereid.
