Solar Magnetic Fields: Reversals, Solar Activity
Scientific paper
The goal of this article was to find out if the epoch of the reversal of the global magnetic field, being not identical for the north and south hemisphere, appears to be associated with some characteristic North-South asymmetry of the solar activity. We have found that the asymmetry in sunspot activity is independent on that phenomenon. Either the asymmetry of the coronal emission in 530.3 nm line in the equatorial regions do not correlates with the time of the reversal. A negative asymmetry of the coronal brightness in 530.3 nm line was found in polar regions during the cycle 23, which would not be generalized for the previous cycles. However, the epoch of the reversal is accompanied with higher coronal intensity in the polar regions.
