A rocket was launched to a height of 1500 km on December 21, 1981 in order to investigate the propagation dynamics of an internal gravity wave in the ionosphere during geomagnetic substorms. The experiment was carried out in the framework of the Intercosmos program; the Intercosmos-Bulgaria-1300 satellite was passing overhead at the time of the rocket launch.
