A summary of the research programs in optical aeronomy is presented. The facilities include: a laser radar for studies related to the mesospheric sodium layer and stratospheric aerosols; photometers and an interferometer for observations of the F-region (OI 6300 and 7774 A), mesospheric (OH, O2 atm., NaD, and OI 5577 A), and energetic particle excited (N2 (sup +) 3914 and 4278 A and H sub beta 4816 A) nightglow emissions; and rocket-borne photometers for the equatorial upper atmospheric studies.
