Gliese 372 has a spectral class of M2.0 V and was recently found to be a single lined spectroscopic binary system with an orbital period of 47.7 days and an eccentricity of e=0.530 (Upgren & Harlow 1996, PASP, 108, 64). New observations and analysis reveal the lines of both the primary and secondary, making the system one of nine known M dwarf double-lined spectroscopic binary systems and the only one which is not a dMe star. The flux ratio of the components and previous photometry and parallax of the system indicate that the absolute magnitudes of the components are Mv,1=9.8 and Mv,2=10.8. The mass ratio is M1/M2=1.32, and the primary and secondary minimum masses are 0.594 and 0.449 Msun, respectively. These masses are near the expected masses of the components based on their luminosities, indicating an orbital inclination near 90°. Since only two M dwarf eclipsing binaries are known, and both involve active flare stars, this system would be of great interest if it proved to be an eclipsing binary. No observational search for possible eclipses has yet been carried out.
