Stars: Variables: Rr Lyrae, Stars: Individual: U Comae
Scientific paper
UBV and uvby observations of U Comae, an RR Lyrae c-type variable with a premaximum "bump," have been used to determine an improved pulsation period and an estimated distance. The ephemeris for U Com, derived from all the photoelectric observations, is: Max HJD=2441336.9679+0.2927386iE. The distance to U Com, between 1400 and 1650 pc depending on the value of the absolute visual magnitude of the RR Lyrae c variables, indicates that it is either a thick disk object or a halo variable. A comparison of these observations with first overtone pulsation models indicates that U Com has an Teff of about 7250° and a log g of about 3.1, if the variable's [Fe/H] is -1.32.
