General Relativity, Black Holes: Space-Time
Scientific paper
Numerical relativity is gaining momentum and acceptance as a tool for investigating the both the Einstein equations themselves, and their application to astrophysics. While this research field is not new, there are many reasons to believe that it is achieving a certain maturity that will make it useful to the larger relativity and astrophysics communities. The author touches on a number of new developments in numerical relativity, including new collaborations, explosive growth in computer power, new formulations of the Einstein equations, tools for analysis in numerical studies, and applications to 2D and 3D black hole spacetimes.
