Photoelectron flux coming from the sunlight conjugate ionosphere was measured in the energy range 6-70 eV by means of a rocket-borne low-energy electron spectrometer in the 210-350 km altitude region. Some reported photoelectron fluxes measured at 350 km are found to be consistent with the vertical profile of the 630 nm airglow intensity measured simultaneously. Fluxes obtained near apogee are characterized; fluxes observed below apogee are compared to calculated fluxes so that the interaction of electrons with atmospheric species can be studied. Calculated fluxes obtained by using continuous slowing-down approximation and neglecting pitch angle are found to be in general good agreement with observations, although discrepancies are noted.
