A deep photograph taken with a 1.2-m telescope was used to measure geometric properties for 30,760 galaxies down to a limiting angular diameter of 4.8 microns in two fields near the South Galactic Pole. Large fluctuations in the surface density of distant rich clusters are characterized, and the mean apparent ellipticity of galaxies with angular diameter greater than 240 microns is reported. No systematic effect in the alignments of galaxies was found.
