We analyzed the organics in the Murchison meteorite using carbon XANES.
The sample is prepared by crushing and suspending fine particles of the
meteorite in water. Three categories of carbonaceous compounds were
found: water soluble organic, water insoluble organic, and water
insoluble inorganic.
